A Novel Nanoplatform Based on Biofunctionalized MNPs@UCNPs for Sensitive and Rapid Detection of Shigella

Shigella, a typical and fatal foodborne pathogen with strong infectivity survivability in foodstuff, demands simple sensitive detecting method. In this study, we reported novel nanoplatform based on biofunctionalized magnetic nanoparticles (MNPs) modified upconversion (UCNPs) for rapid specific determination of Shigella. Due to base pairing, Shigella aptamer-functionalized horseradish peroxidase (HRP) combined complementary strand-modified MNPs@UCNPs. the absence HRP associated MNPs@UCNPs were magnetically separated, colorless 3,3′,5,5′-tetramethylbenzidine (TMB) was oxidized into blue oxTMB. The overlap between oxTMB’s absorption peak MNPs@UCNPs’ emission caused fluorescence quenching at 545 nm. biosensor achieved detect 1 h, limit detection 32 CFU/mL. This work showed sensing platform produced satisfactory chicken sample results.
